A Message from our Head Teacher

Dear parents & carers

I am delighted to welcome you to Woodlands Community College. Woodlands is a school of great diversity, energy and creativity but above all it is typified by a caring and supportive ethos. Our students enjoy school, the high quality education they receive, the first class facilities they enjoy in our state of the art buildings and the strong relationships they form with the amazing staff here. We are the first choice school for our community and we take great pride in this vital responsibility.

As a small 11 to 16 school we feel it is so important that every student feels welcomed and part of our learning journey. We are a community that believes in lifelong learning and personal achievement. Our aim is to ensure all students leave Woodlands successfully prepared and confident in exploring the next steps in their own journey.

Our motto is “Respect, Responsibility, Resilience”. This message underpins everything we do, from the engaging high quality lessons, the inspiring assemblies, to the massive range of exciting extracurricular visits and activities we run here, Woodlands will inspire you!

Every student here is challenged to achieve their best. We offer the best teaching, curriculum, support and facilities to help all children succeed. Every teacher and member of staff at Woodlands is determined to provide the highest standards for all students. In turn we expect and demand the highest standards from our students. We expect learners to work hard, attend well, behave impeccably and show the resilience and determination needed to succeed.

On behalf of the students, staff and governors of the school we welcome you to come and see for yourselves how great this school is. We are all intensely proud of Woodlands, of what it has achieved and what it will be; the most successful school in Southampton! It is my mission as the new Headteacher here to make that vision a reality and by working together with staff and students in this exciting and vibrant learning community we will achieve this. There is no limit to success!

“Respect, Responsibility, Resilience”.

Jim Henderson
Head Teacher
