Mrs T SambrookWelcome from our Head Teacher

On behalf of the Governors, staff and students, I am delighted to welcome you to Woodlands Community College.  I hope you find our website informative and helpful.

“Inspire , Challenge and Achieve” is the motto of Woodlands Community College. These three words are at the core of our ethos and daily practice.

At Woodlands we aim to inspire our students through an enriching and creative curriculum. We provide our learners with the ability to communicate with others and think for themselves, enabling them to become successful, responsible citizens who actively participate in the wider society. We are one of very few schools across the country who have achieved the Arts Mark Gold status showing the real importance we place on creativity. As one of our students commented recently “every day is different and brilliant”.

Every child is challenged at Woodlands to push themselves out of their comfort zone and be the best they can be. We have extensive enrichment opportunities. Our comprehensive gifted and talented programme works closely with Southampton University.  One of our year 11s recently commented “The trips are incredible and I have loved being given the opportunity to visit universities and colleges”.

Woodlands Community College has just under 550 pupils. As a small secondary school, every child is an individual. We make it our mission to ensure all our students achieve their full potential both academically and socially. Our extensive transition programme and two week summer school means that we are well placed to offer maximum support from day one.

With its fantastic facilities, supportive staff, academic rigour and enrichment opportunities, Woodlands really is an exciting and vibrant community in which to learn.  As the Headteacher of Woodlands, I am incredibly proud of our school community and would love for you to visit us and see our school in action.
