May 2019

Dear Parent/Carer,

As you will be aware, we are very keen to work with students and parents to bring about positive change for the school and with that in mind we have made some alterations to the uniform policy.

Summer Uniform

You will now be aware that our summer polo shirt is available to buy from our usual uniform supplier. Students will be able to wear these from Monday, 3rd June and will not be required to wear blazers or ties with them.

Students will also be able to wear tailored black shorts with either the Woodlands white polo top or their normal white school shirt.  The shorts must not be casual or sportswear and they must be of an appropriate length. Normal formal black school shoes will be required. If you do not wish to purchase a white Woodlands polo top, then students may wear just their normal white school shirt, which must be tucked in.
Blazers and ties will not be required from June until the end of the summer term.

September uniform

We have also decided that from September, there will be a change to the uniform policy regarding school skirts and trousers. We have managed to secure an agreement with Skoolkit to provide skirts and trousers.  This was raised through our Parents’ Forum as something parents would welcome as it will ensure consistency.

Using Skoolkit gives parents the option of either ordering online or visiting one of their shops in Eastleigh, Fareham, Totton, Havant or Basingstoke to try them on. Unfortunately, we cannot use the supplier of our current uniform as they do not do skirts in different lengths. There will be a choice of two different skirts; one pleated and one straight. Both skirts are formal school skirts that are not lycra, stretchy or tight fighting. From September, the school skirts are to be no more than 10cm above the knee and Skoolkit are aware of this.

If you decide to purchase your child’s school skirt or some girls’ trousers from somewhere other than Skoolkit, if they do not mirror the expectations of the Skoolkit skirts or trousers, it is very likely that your child will be isolated until this is rectified.

To purchase or take a look at the school skirts/trousers, please visit and click on ‘find your school’. If you type Woodlands, our logo will appear and it will provide links to the school skirts and trousers. You will notice that boys’ trousers appear too which can also be purchased through Skoolkit if you choose. Please ensure that you do find the link through our school logo otherwise you may end up purchasing incorrect uniform.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the parents and students who were involved in the decision making regarding the changes to uniform.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in contact.

Yours sincerely,

Miss N Iverson
