Accelerated Reader (AR) is software for primary and secondary schools used for monitoring the practice of reading. It was created by Renaissance Learning, Inc. There are two versions: a desktop version and a web-based version in Renaissance Place, the company’s online portal.
The web version is available to all students from any internet connected device, whilst the desktop version is installed on desktop computers and laptops in school.
At its heart, Accelerated Reader is simple.
A student reads a book, takes an online quiz, and gets immediate feedback. Students respond to regular feedback and are motivated to make progress with their reading skills.
Students user credentials are made up as follows:
Username – Firstname.Surname
Password – FirstInitialLastInitial
