Attendance

Regular attendance is essential for effective learning and success. If your child is unwell an unable to attend, please let us know as early as possible on the first day of absence.  We have an Attendance Officer who will ring or text parents in the event of an unexplained absence.  She is able to offer support and guidance to pupils who have problems with attendance, and can be contacted through our main switchboard.

We encourage high personal standards, and so we expect pupils to be punctual.  If your child is going to be late to school, please provide them with a note, ideally in their planner.  If a pupil arrives late to school we will record this in their planner for your information.

Parents are asked not to take their child out of school for holidays, dental appointments or medical appointments.  We do not approve leave of absence for holidays during term time except in exceptional circumstances.  If holiday is taken without authorisation, we are expected to refer the matter to the Local Authority to issue a fine.

For their safety, pupils are not permitted to leave the premises during the school day without permission and without signing out at Reception.  We request your support with upholding this, but if they will need to leave early, please write a note in his or her planner.  We would encourage you to arrange medical and dental appointments after school, or on Monday afternoons whenever possible.  We have a Welfare Assistant who deals with medical problems during the school day, and would be happy to discuss any support your child needs to enable him or her to continue to attend school.

We expect good attendance and acknowledge it by rewarding good and improving attendance. If you have any concerns about your child's attendance, please do contact the Assistant Year Leader for your child's year, or our Attendance Officer.
