Homework
Homework, whether completed at home
or at college, is an important part of any
education. It allows pupils to develop independent
learning skills and enables them to organise their
time after school constructively. This is vital if
they are to achieve success and continue to develop
their studies and skills further.
Homework is set to reinforce and
extend learning and is an integral part of the
curriculum.
At Woodlands we will:
-
set
homework on a regular basis across the
curriculum, including termly projects to inspire
and challenge pupils
-
ensure
homework set is relevant, differentiated, clear
and challenging
-
encourage
independent learning
-
provide
every pupil with a study planner to record
homework and to help parents monitor that it is
being completed.
KS3 homework
Pupils receive homework from
subjects at least once every five lessons, although
teachers may set tasks more frequently.
Homework may take the form of projects across a
halfterm.
KS4 homework
Pupils should receive homework from
every examination subject on a weekly basis. This
should take up to one hour per subject per week.
However, there will be times throughout the year,
for example during coursework deadlines, when extra
time may be required to complete work at home.
Study Support
The Learning Resource Centre is open
to support homework from 8.00am to 8.30am and after
school until 3.30pm (2.45pm on a Monday) Resources
and staff are available at this time to enable
pupils to work on their homework. ICT facilities are
also available.
